Whoopi Goldberg refuses to say Trump’s name, but she’s not an election denier.
Despite calls for people to vote, it appears that well over 10 million Americans did not participate in the 2024 election. Only some of the decline in turnout is the result of voter suppression.
Whatever the cause, the world either went to sleep or woke up haunted by terrible news after Election Day. And the co-sponsors are The View was no exception.
Everyone copes in their own way. In Whoopi Goldberg’s case, she refuses to mention the name of the disgraced former and future president.
Whoopi Goldberg: ‘I’m not going to say my name yet’ after dark events on November 5th
“So what happened last night?” Whoopi Goldberg asked conversationally during the Nov. 6 episode of “The View.” The room was filled with tension and despair, as you can see and hear in the video below.
She confirmed that, barring some miracle, Donald Trump will resume occupying the Oval Office in January 2025.
“He’s the president,” Whoopi admitted. “I’m not going to say his name yet. That won’t change.”
Sunny Hostin said she was “very upset”. “If you look at the New York Times this morning, the headline was “America Makes Dangerous Choices.”
She recalled: “In 2016, we didn’t know what we were going to get from the Trump administration. We know now. We now know he has almost unlimited power.”
Sunny Hostin describes the key characteristics as follows: I’m not worried about my position in life. ”
Whoopi wasn’t the only panelist to comment on President Trump’s alarming return to power.
In the November 6th episode, The ViewSunny Hostin continued: I’m worried about my mother, a retired teacher. ”
She went on to list: “I’m worried about the elderly and their social security and health care. I’m worried about the future of my children, especially my daughter, who has fewer rights than I do.”
Sunny added, “As a woman of color, I was very excited to see a mixed-race woman married to a Jewish man elected president of this country.”
Sunny Hostin gave a speech about the election and said of Trump voters: This was a referendum on cultural resentment in this country. ”
She’s not completely wrong. But she’s not completely right either. A surprising number of voters vote out of anger. They don’t care how much harm it causes them as long as someone else suffers more. However, there are also “low-information voters” who do not understand the economic and political damage caused by President Trump’s first term.
However, to be clear, the existence ofVoters with little information” is a policy failure. This is a failure of education and one that has been systematically dismantled over generations. And this is also a failure of governments that rely too much on corporate media to inform curious voters.
Joy Behar surprised some viewers
Despite the disastrous outcome of the 2024 presidential election (and, lest we forget, the Senate), Joy Behar said “the system worked” as intended this time.
“We live in a democracy. The people have spoken. This is what the people wanted. I vehemently disagree with the decisions that the American people have made, but I don’t want this country to have a democracy.” “I feel very hopeful that there is a system in place,” she said.
“We should cherish it. We should love it. If a situation arises where we have to protest, we should protest, and I’m sure we will,” Joy Behar allowed. “I’ve been there before with Nixon. We have a country and we can keep it together.”
