Aside from the opening dream sequence, the first episode mainly depicts Lara’s life in England. This series obviously needs to set the stage for Lara’s next mission, but It takes a little while to get started. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but Lara Croft’s stories are always much more exciting when we see her propelled into different adventures rather than sulking around the mansion. As previously mentioned, this series serves as a direct sequel to the “Survivor trilogy,” and it all started with Lara in the early stages of her next quest.
Video games and television series are obviously two very different mediums, but one of the benefits of this series being animated is that the creative team doesn’t have to worry so much about how much it costs for the characters to travel the world. There’s no need to do that. Make the world a dangerous place. There is no greater intrigue in Lara’s mansion. Like an unexplored tomb or an unpredictable rainforest.
Thankfully, this series Things pick up over the next seven episodes and never slow down. When Lara first meets Devereaux, he attempts to manipulate her, claiming he wants to obtain the Peril Stone in order to stop a dangerous cult that threatens the end of humanity. Lara is easy to see through the surface, but the character is portrayed in a way that makes it easy for us to understand his motivations, even though we may not agree with his decisions. Armitage does a great job of giving the villain an intimidating yet strangely charismatic voice.making him even more memorable.
Atwell’s casting as the voice of Lara Croft is another strong addition to the cast. At first I was disappointed when I found out the voice actor, but Camilla Luddington Although he’s not reprising his role from the Survivor trilogy, Atwell still manages to capture the spirit of the character. Never been distracted by recasting. Camilla Ross, played by Boyle, is also a strong addition to the cast, and her relationship with Lara is one of the biggest highlights. The series does a great job of establishing their friendship, the cause of the rift between them, and the sisterhood (and possibly romance) between them. She’s the kind of character you can only hope sticks around and shows up in future installments, whether it’s a second season or the next video game.
While some fans of the series may be quick to complain that they wish they’d made another video game instead of a TV series, The Legend of Lara Croft is seamlessly crafted. Captures the tone and world that made the Survivor trilogy so effective in the first place. It offers us fascinating new adventures, exciting new characters, action galore, and, of course, as much tomb raiding as you could hope for.
