The summer when Hikaru died ” is a Japanese Netflix original supernatural horror anime series directed and written by Ryohei Takeshita. The series is based on the award-winning Mokumokuren manga series of the same name. CygamesPictures is an animation studio that produces anime.
Director Ryohei Takeshita said the following.
“I was very excited to read the original work and thought about how to express the panels in the anime. Our team not only took advantage of the beautiful and innovative structure of the manga, but also expressed the delicate emotions of Yoshiki and Hikaru. We were very keen to capture it and look forward to sharing it with you.”

Netflix has not announced an official release date yet The summer when Hikaru died. The anime will be released in Japan on Nippon Television in the third quarter of 2025, and will also be released on Netflix around the same time.

“Yoshiki and Hikaru are two best friends living in a village in the countryside of Japan. Something takes over Hikaru’s body, memories, and emotions, and everything they know begins to unravel.
who is the cast of The summer when Hikaru died?
The voice of Hikaru is Shuichiro Umeda.
The actor said the following about being selected to play the lead role.
“Playing Hikaru was like peering into the darkness.Although there was some uncertainty, my desire to maintain a connection with YOSHIKI was clear, and I approached the role with that strong feeling. Ta.”

The only other cast member known is Chiaki Kobayashi, who plays Yoshiki Tsukinaka. Chaiki also expressed his excitement to play Yoshiki.
