Kristian Nairn, who plays Hodor, game of thrones Five years after it aired, he explained why he enjoyed the show’s final episode.
talk Screen RantNairn revealed that he enjoyed the final season. game of thrones“The actor explained that he believed the seeds of Daenerys Targaryen burning down King’s Landing had been planted throughout the show, and that her character’s turn was justified when it became a reality. However, he acknowledged that the series needed more episodes to flesh out that event, and compared the later episodes to the work of director Michael Bay.
He also House of the Dragon He cautions that the dragon-based action is likely to unfold over a long period of time, which is why the way Daenerys’ downfall was depicted is likely to make the ending more divisive. Still, he thinks the finale had some incredible shots, including Tyrion Lannister walking through hordes of the dead, which he likens to a Renaissance painting. See what Nairn had to say below.
It’s not perfect, but please remember that I’m not a screenwriter, and neither are 99.99% of people. Some people think they are screenwriters, but I know I’m not. So [the response] I was really disappointed. Of course, I’m long dead, so I don’t feel responsible. But I was disappointed because the show was so highly acclaimed and I don’t think it deserved that. I don’t think we could have ended it in a way that satisfied the audience. I don’t think there’s ever been a show in the history of television where the audience was so invested in the characters as they were with Breaking Bad, and I think everyone had their own final fantasy about what the end of Daenerys was. Any deviation from that, especially a deviation as extreme as this, would have upset the audience.
People say Daenerys acted so out of character so suddenly, but I don’t understand how I missed it throughout the show. I was waiting for it to happen the whole time. The signs were there. She actually said at one stage that she would burn down King’s Landing when Drogon got big enough. And what happened? She did as she said. My only criticism, which is not really a criticism because I understand there were budget issues and stuff, is that I just wish it was longer.
I don’t think making the episodes longer would have worked. I think it would have been better if they had more episodes. I can explain it that way because of Michael Bay. The last season had explosions and lots of dragons and a little bit of Michael Bay sprinkled in. They gave us those things, they made us crave them, and then all of a sudden they say, “Dinner’s here, and it might not be as tasty as you thought it would be.” Sometimes thinking about dinner is better than having dinner.
Now I’m doing something similar with House of Dragons. Everyone is waiting for the dragon fight and I’m trying to warn people. Of course, I know the series Game of Thrones and you know that you might be waiting 20 years for this, but maybe it’ll be another season. Who knows. But I don’t set the clock. I mean, I don’t set the alarm. I just wish people were happier, because I really enjoyed it. The scene with Peter. [Dinklage] As we walked through the rubble, people were saying, “Oh, I wish Cersei had a horrible death.” So what happened to their deaths? It was like a Renaissance painting. It was art. There’s such beautiful work, music and stuff, and people are saying, “That’s horrible.” What are you saying?
There’s more to come…
