Suddenly, the vacation is interrupted by a lizard woman. The assailant threw a spear at Jay, which pierced his chest and sent him flying.
A normal person would die from this attack, but Jay’s connection to the Speed Force, which he inherited from the Flash, allows him to heal in surprising ways.demonstrating his versatility that sets him apart from other speedsters.

After the lizard woman’s fatal wound, Jay’s mother Linda panics, believing her son is dead. But just like the Flash, Jay isn’t easy to defeat. After all, Jay can heal injuries by rearranging molecules.. This feat of strength is the result of his Shaper ability, which allows him to “shape” himself in innovative ways. In the past, he used his shaper abilities to teleport, but now he realizes that he can also shape and heal himself. Jay officially has one of DC’s most useful healing factors and can cheat death.

Jay’s relationship with the Speed Force is complicated to say the least, considering how differently it manifests in him compared to most other speedsters. Rather than being gifted with super speed like the rest of his family, Jay initially channels the Speed Force into his super strength. This issue depicts its original usage, with Jay ripping a tree out of the ground in revenge for his attackers. But now he has unleashed a new potential for his powers beyond strength. Of course, it wasn’t easy for Jay to discover his power set. In fact, he learned of his Shaper abilities during another near-death experience.

Inspector Pilgrim – later revealed to be the future version of his brother Wade – visits him and explains that the strange entity he is creating allows him to jump between conduits of the Speed Force, such as the Flash. He also hints at other uses for his powers, which Jay will reveal in due course. What Jay thought for a long time to be super strength was actually the result of him inadvertently reinventing himself.

Jay’s Shaper powers are put to the test when he and Flash encounter a cosmic entity known as Stillness. They seem to be aware that Jay is the Shaper and are quick to get rid of him, deeming him “disgusting.” Flash is furious that his son is thought to be dead, but before he can get angry, Jay appears by his side and assures him that he is fine. Instead of being killed by Stillness, Jay split into a homunculus and then rebuilt himself like new. This feat hints at his ultimate healing factor and proves Jay’s potential as a shaper.

Jay’s vast arsenal of powers, unlike any other speedster in DC lore, helps him stand out as one of the strongest members of the super-powered family. Yet, despite the endless possibilities of his Shaper status, Jay has no interest in becoming a hero. flash #5 ends with Jay admitting to the Flash that he doesn’t want to be a superhero anymore, but he still continues to fight alongside his family when the situation calls for it. If Jay returns to heroism to follow in his father’s footsteps, he finally has what it takes to surpass The Flash.

The eldest of Flash’s children is not the only one with the potential to surpass him, all three of his children have incredible potential beneath their youthful exteriors. For example, Eyrie’s god-level speed allowed her to accomplish feats even Wally could not, such as mastering vibrational intangibility. Additionally, although Wade is still a baby in the present, his future self is a scientific detective with incredible intelligence.
