As another week draws to a close, we’re back with another new streaming pick. And if you’re still feeling the Valentine’s Day vibe, Netflix has got the goods. Players, the new romantic comedy starring Gina Rodriguez and Tom Ellis, is now available to stream worldwide, and UK subscribers can also watch last year’s hit romantic drama Past Lives.
Elsewhere, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is streaming on Peacock in the US, and Prime Video subscribers in the US can watch one of last year’s best animated films, Teenage Mutant・You can watch “Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.” And romance takes a darker turn with Lady Macbeth, starring Florence Pugh, now available on Netflix UK.
As for TV shows, Apple TV Plus is back with a new star-studded drama series, “The New Look,” featuring Ben Mendelsohn, Maisie Williams, Juliette Binoche, and John Malkovich. Also, Amy Schumer’s comedy-drama “Life & Beth” is back. You can watch the season on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the rest of the world.

Rodriguez plays Mac, a New York City sports journalist whose love life includes romance plans with her best friend Adam (Wayans Jr.). But when Mac meets fellow journalist Nick (Ellis), he must decide whether he’s ready to ditch his cheating plans and actually start a relationship… The film was previously directed by Pitch Perfect 3. It was directed by Trish See.

A 10-year love story that never came to fruition, “Past Lives” follows the romance between two Seoul classmates, Nora (Greta Lee) and Hae-sung (Teo Yoo), as Nora’s family… The story is interrupted by a move to Toronto, until they meet again 10 years later and have an affair over Skype. After several more years, and after losing touch again, they finally reunited in New York City, where Nora is now married. Celine Song’s tender and heartfelt directorial debut was a hit with critics and audiences last year, and for good reason.

Oppenheimer, one of last year’s biggest movie releases, is now available to stream at home. Oscar-nominated Cillian Murphy plays the titular scientist, an American theoretical physicist and wartime director of the secret Los Alamos Laboratory. He was deeply involved in the Manhattan Project, which is credited with developing the first nuclear weapons, which were used to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan in 1945. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film’s layered ensemble cast also includes Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, and Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, and Casey. Ben Mendelsohn plays iconic fashion designer Christian Dior in Apple TV Plus’ newest series, “The New Look.” Set in post-World War II Paris, the show follows Dior as he creates a fashion line that would become known as the “New Look” and change the face of fashion forever. The cast also includes Maisie Williams as Dior’s sister Catherine and Juliette Binoche as his contemporary Coco Chanel.
