Stephanie Beauchamp feared for her life when she encountered a robber with a hammer inside her home.
The 76-year-old “Dynasty” star was left horrified in October 2022 when she was confronted by David Wilson, who broke into her London home and threatened her with a crowbar to hand her over. money and jewelry.
She opened up about the ordeal in a new interview, telling Mail Plus: “He put a crowbar over my head and said, ‘Give me your money, give me your jewelry, don’t look at me, don’t look at me.'”
“And he said, ‘I wish you weren’t here.’ When I heard that, I thought, ‘Oh, I’m going to die soon,’ so that wasn’t very good.”
Stephanie goes on to reveal that Wilson was left crouching in the bathroom while he ransacked her home, which is seen by Jodi from Panic Room, who traps her and her daughter during a home invasion. He said it reminded him of Foster’s character.
He added: “I don’t know why it reminded me of Jodie Foster and what she’s doing in that movie.” [‘Panic Room’]. But you know what I did? I picked up the sponge on the end of a plastic stick and held it like some kind of weapon.
“I mean, what exactly was I going to do? Wash your face?”
Wilson was found guilty of aggravated robbery and sentenced to 10 years and 5 months in prison for breaking into the actress’ home and another robbery at a Sheffield home.
In a statement to London’s Southwark Crown Court, prosecutor John Traversi detailed the impact the break-in had on the actress, revealing she remained frightened and struggled to remember her lines.
He told the court: “She thought it was a very safe and cozy holiday home and she no longer felt safe.” She felt that without the support of those in charge, it might have been difficult to fulfill the contract.
“She was afraid to go back home. She was afraid to go back to her home, which she always thought was safe. She always thought she was mentally strong, and that made her… It made me feel old and vulnerable.”
