“Spider Noir” cast Karen Rodriguez in a recurring role. Variety I learned it exclusively.
The series, which will be the first live-action project featuring the character Spider-Man Noir, was awarded a series premiere in May and stars Rodriguez alongside star Nicolas Cage, as well as series regulars Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Lee Jun Lee and Jack Huston.
According to the official logline, the show is “set in 1930s New York City, and tells the story of an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s only superhero.”
Rodriguez previously starred in the Amazon series “Swarm.” She’s also known for her roles in shows like Apple TV+’s “Acapulco” and “The Shining Girls,” Starz’s “Power Book IV: The Force” and Fox’s “The Big Leap.” She’ll next be seen in the Starz drama series “The Hunting Wives.”
She is repped by Lasher Group, Gray Talent Group and Del Shaw Moonves.
As previously reported, Spider Noir will premiere in the U.S. on the MGM+ linear channel before being released globally on Amazon Prime Video. The series is from Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will also serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. They developed the series with Spider-Verse team Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal, with Pascal all serving as executive producers. Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes. Pascal will serve as executive producer through his Pascal Pictures company, while Lord and Miller will executive produce through Lord Miller. Lord Miller’s Aditya Sood and Dan Shear will also executive produce. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord Miller currently under an overall deal with Sony.
