Rashida Jones Shares grief following death of legendary music producer father quincy jones.
The Parks and Recreation actress took to Instagram just days after her father passed away at the age of 91, noting his shocking legacy and paying a moving tribute.
Rashida began her note by recalling one of her fondest memories with her father. When her father worked late into the night, she called it “jazz time,” when the music titan always kept her by his side.

She writes… “When I was little, I would get up in the middle of the night and look for him. No doubt he was somewhere in the house (with a pen and sheet music) in an old-fashioned ) was composing. He never let me go back to bed. He smiled and held me in his arms as he continued to work…I couldn’t have been safer. ”
Rashida went on to praise her father, calling him a “giant,” an “icon,” a “cultural changer” and a “genius.”
She added… “All the descriptions of my father are accurate, but his music (and all of his work) was a way to convey his love. My father was love. My father was everyone I ever met. He made everyone feel loved and seen. That’s my father’s legacy.”
Paying tribute, she wrote a message to Quincy, saying, “It’s an honor to be your daughter.”

A representative released a statement on behalf of the family, but Thursday’s Instagram post was the first personal message about Rashida’s loss.
The cause of death has not been disclosed.
