Prince Harry is considering becoming a US citizen, but it is not a priority at this time.
The 39-year-old prince and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, announced that they had considered stepping back from royal duties four years ago to start a new life in the former actress’ hometown of California and applying for legal recognition of their adoption. The move, he confirmed, would likely mean he would have to give up his royal title, but he says he has “no idea” what stopped him from starting the process.
“It’s been amazing. I’m loving every day of it,” he gushed on “Good Morning America” when asked about life in the U.S. while in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games launch event.
When I asked him if he felt American, he replied with a laugh:
When asked if he would consider becoming a citizen, Harry replied: “Yes, I have.”
“The thought has crossed my mind, but it’s not a high priority for now…
“I have no idea.” [why I haven’t applied yet]. I’m standing here with these guys and American citizenship has crossed my mind, but it’s certainly not the top priority for me right now. ”
Prince Harry said he was “so grateful” to be a father to Meghan and her two children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
He said: “The children are doing very well. Like all children, they are growing up incredibly quickly. They have an incredible sense of humor and almost Just like our children, they make us laugh and keep us grounded every day.
“I’m just so grateful to be a father.”
The former Army captain likes participating in the Invictus Games, which are contested by wounded, wounded and sick service members and veterans. This is because it gives him “establishment” in his military service.
When asked what keeps him busy, he replied: The mission continues. Every element of the work continues and before you know it this time next year we’ll be here doing all this again…and all of Whistler and hopefully all of Canada will be screaming they’re epic Challenging the game…
“I’ve always loved serving. I’m working on this problem with these guys. There’s no version of me coming here and observing them and not getting involved myself.”
