Comedy horror series project “Taiwanese Pontianax” and education-themed “The Top Percentile” emerge as major winners at the 2024 Taiwan Creative Content Fest (TCCF) pitching session, winning three awards each I did.
“Taiwanese Pontianax” by the creative team of Goh Ming Siu, Karl Gan and Holly Chan won the MyVideo Initiative Award, Taigi TV Award and KFA Original Award. “The Top Percentile” by Becca Liao, Jessica Kam and Jian Suqiu won the Formosa TV Award, EBC Original IP Potential Award and ZW Ingenuity Award.
In the feature film category, Hsubox Productions and Volos Films’ “Sunshower” won two awards: the Taichung Action Award and the QPM Award. The project will be helmed by writer/director Stefanos Tai, with Stefano Centini and Jonathan Hsu serving as producers. “Don’t Worry About Vampires,” by the team of Lin Shi-ken, Isara Chen, Liao Chen-kai and Chen Ho-yu, also won two honors: the Taipei International Film Award and the BiFan+ Award.
Sumimasen Co., Ltd. and Reno Studio’s animation project “Something Great” won the Warner Bros. Discovery Spotlight Award. The project will be directed by Eiji Han Shimizu, with Peter Huang serving as executive producer, and Andrei Pratama and Christopher Chen serving as producers.
In the Story to Screen: Original Story Concept category, “Summer Ghost Friend” directed by Yu Yi-hsun and “The Art of Retribution” directed by Wu Jiawei received gold awards.
The documentary category saw strong international co-productions, with “The Birdwatcher” (Tagu Films, Pōtocol, Island X Pictures) winning the Doc Edge Award. In the Project to Screen category, Mangowork Studio’s “Clouded Leopard” won the TAICCA x CNC Award.
