Over the past few years, we have peaky blinders Movies on Netflix. It has been officially confirmed that the film has been greenlit. Filming is underway with Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth and Rebecca Ferguson joining the cast, with Academy Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby.
The last time we spoke on this subject was two years ago, after the British drama’s sixth and final season was released on Netflix in June 2022.
On June 4, 2024, Deadline confirmed that Netflix had officially greenlit a Peaky Blinders movie.
The global pandemic severely affected the production of Season 6, leading to the idea of concluding Tommy Shelby’s story in a movie rather than Season 7. Peaky Blinders creator and showrunner Steven Knight has openly discussed plans for a film adaptation as early as 2021.
Steven Knight said of the film:
“I’m really excited for this movie to come to fruition. It’s going to be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. It’s totally Peaky Blinders during the war.”

Tom Harper has been chosen to direct the film. He is familiar with the production, having previously directed the second half of the first season of Peaky Blinders.
Harper said of the film:
“When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, I had no idea what the series would become, but I knew there was something explosive in the alchemy of the cast and script. We knew it. ‘Peaky’ has always been a story about family, so we’re thrilled to reunite with Steve and Killian and bring this film to a global audience on Netflix.”

Who is in the cast of peaky blinders movie?
To no one’s surprise, Cillian Murphy will be reprising his role as Tommy Shelby. Since the end of the sixth season, Murphy has been upfront about his desire to return to the role of Tommy Shelby, but was happy to take time off, thinking it was “good for everyone.” Suffice it to say, he used that time very well, going on to become an Academy Award-winning actor, winning the Best Actor award for his role as J. On August 30th, Netflix announced that Barry Keoghan has joined the cast of Peaky Blinders. His role in the film has not yet been revealed. Cogan is one of Ireland’s most popular actors after appearing in films such as: salt burn, Banshee of Inisherin, eternalsand batman as the next iteration of the Joker.
When it comes to television, Corgan has appeared on several popular shows such as: Chernobyl, top boyand masters of the air.

Cameras have officially rolled into the movie ‘Peaky Blinders’!
Steven Knight expressed his excitement about the start of production:

What is the plot of the movie Peaky Blinders?
All current plot details are being kept secret. However, in April 2022, Deadline reported that Knight had confirmed that the story would take place during World War II.
What does this mean for Tommy Shelby, a World War I veteran? Domestic enemies such as Moseley may continue to occupy Shelby.

When will the Peaky Blinders movie arrive on Netflix?
Given that filming is scheduled to take place later this year, it is highly unlikely that it will arrive in 2024.
The film will most likely be released in fall 2025.

Will this film be available on Netflix in the UK?
Nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing. Given that the series is a BBC production, it would be no surprise to see the film air on BBC One and later released on Netflix UK.
