Lindsay Lohan is back with a holiday movie, making her third Netflix movie in two years. our little secreta light romantic comedy set around the experience of meeting your significant other’s family for the holidays – with a twist, of course. This will be Lohan’s second Netflix Christmas movie after her Netflix film debut. Falling for Christmas The film became the second most-watched Netflix original holiday film of all time worldwide and was a huge success for the platform. It seems to have done wonders for her career, as she soon after signed a two-picture deal with Netflix and embarked on a series revival tour with a cameo in the latest musical. mean girls He is set to star in the Disney movie, which was released earlier this year and is scheduled for release in 2025. Freaky Fridayher movie sequel whimsical friday Released in 2003.
As a millennial who has followed Lohan’s career for more than a few decades (wow!), I sympathize with the Lohan-ness (trademark?) that has emerged in her over the past few years in hopes of getting her career back on track. was. It taps into some of the magic of her early work and helps her recover from the tumultuous lost decade that preceded her return. But what kind of movies will she make? How does she define this part of her career? I am on record as providing solid support; Falling for Christmas I also derided her Irish-based romantic comedy as a commercial success that capitalized on her charm and demonstrated her talent for physical comedy. irish wishThe song, released in March of this year, was a “bland speed bump” to her career and a “waste of time and talent”. So, as you can imagine, I was apprehensive about my viewing experience with this movie. our little secret. Will she come off the proverbial mat after her futile efforts to make our holidays bright again?
The introduction to this movie certainly made me think so. I might have thought we would get an emotional romance that lasted for years. An inseparable friendship. As time passes, the best friends grow closer. It’s a Kevin Arnold/Winnie Cooper style romance. They were there for each other through thick and thin, even when her mother passed away. They can overcome anything! They are Avery and Logan! But wait… what is that dream job offer that takes Avery to London?! Well, there it is.
Written by first-time screenwriter Hayley DeDominisis, the story picks up 10 years after their breakup (don’t ask me, she won’t tell me what job Avery left or what London was like) to the present day. Up until now, Avery and Logan have been drawn. You’re starting a new, committed relationship with your new partner and plan to head to your partner’s parents’ home for the holidays. A little Christmas and a lot of bad luck combine, and the pair soon find that their awkward trip becomes even more awkward when their new partners become brother and sister.
Wanting to spend their vacation without incidents, drama, or unwanted attention, the two make a pact not to tell anyone they know about each other, let alone date seriously. Logan makes the obviously bad decision not to follow Avery to London (don’t ask me about London, right?!), and the movie brings the two ex-lovers back into each other’s lives and their own lives. Embark on an adventure that raises questions and changes the tone wildly. The life they are currently living without each other.
But has this movie made Lindsay Lohan feel positive again? irish wish?Did the overly saccharine animated opening, with its father’s emotional words, properly prepare us for a romantic story worthy of its emotions? It’s not…no.
meanwhile our little secret This is a very small improvement from the head-shaking, eye-rolling farce. irish wishit’s still a very awkward, partially confusing, overstuffed movie that attempts comedy and romance with an equally low average success rate. SNL alums Tim Meadows and Chris Parnell, longtime Scrubs actress Judy Reyes, and Emmy winner and Broadway star Kristin Chenoworth enjoy a weekend of Wicked in the funniest Comedy parts are difficult to accept because the actors are all TV character actors. victory lap. At least Parnell and Chenoworth get to bat for a few silly scenes. Unfortunately, Meadows and Reyes become a more stoic couple that becomes more fraught as the story progresses.
Of course, in many of these romantic comedy films, the satisfaction comes primarily from the chemistry between the two leads. In this case, Lohan is a little stiff next to Lohan, who is more attractive and charismatic. pretty little liars The star is Ian Harding, who at times does just enough to get the story across. Their relationship deteriorates more in writing than in performance. All we get to see of their previous relationship is a short animated excursion through their history and a public fight and subsequent breakup after Logan’s proposal. It simply isn’t good enough and hampers the emotional impact of everything in the film that follows.
whole, our little secret Despite the level of talent in the cast and director Stephen Herek early in his career, it seems destined to star in the streaming holiday romance game as well (bill and ted’s great adventure, living things, Mighty Ducks) brought great joy to my childhood and millions of others. Lohan and Harding try to keep the movie on track, but a wayward script, fluttery tone, and too many “extra” secrets and plotlines make this one of the best holiday movies of the next few years. It will not be included in the playlist. Rohan will endure and move on. Freaky Friday It’ll be released next year, but the question remains whether a mediocre streaming romantic comedy is her real future beyond 2025. I wish her all the best, and I hope her scripts live up to her talent soon.

MVP of our little secret
Ian Harding as Logan
As someone who never watched a single episode of Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars, I had never met actor Ian Harding until this movie. But from the time he first appeared on screen with Lohan, it was abundantly clear that he had the talent to match her star power and captivate anyone. With boyish good looks straight out of a catalog and a smile that could light up a room, Harding was the perfect person to take on the role. As the story progresses, I become more and more attracted to him, and I think that’s how the movie goes, too. Avery leaves Logan for her dream job in London (I told you not to ask!), but the movie never really reveals what her job is or what that dream is. is not depicted at all. On the other hand, we know Logan has architectural design skills and a side plan of winning a job to get his career to where he wants to be. He also helps Avery develop a liking for the character of Erika, played by Kristin Chenoworth, which makes sense. Because…well…he is him. We hope to see more of him on Netflix in the coming years.
Another movie that doesn’t take advantage of Lindsay Lohan’s talents as an actress, especially a competent comedy, but at least this one isn’t obnoxiously bad and the cast is full of fun people. Have a great vacation!
