“Outlaws” producer Nikki Soto has launched a new film and television production company, “Class 5.”
Class 5, based in Sheffield in the north of England, is already preparing their first major project with writer Ben Myers in partnership with Warner Music Entertainment. Adapted from his novel “Rare Singles,” the feature tells the story of a middle-aged Scarborough music fan who contacts soul-singing hero Bucky Bronco and unexpectedly invites him for a visit.
“In Chicago, Bucky Bronco is down on his luck, and has been since the death of his beloved wife Mabel. The best he can hope for is to make ends meet and get high. to maintain it,” the logline reads. “But then he receives an unexpected invitation from someone he’s never met, asking him to come to a place he’s never heard of. With nothing to lose, and in need of cash, Bucky boards a plane. And Bucky finds himself in a rainy Scarborough, where everyone seems to know who is getting ready to play in front of a crowd for the first time in almost half a century.
Thor started in the industry as a runner 25 years ago and has since worked in film and television. Since then, she has continued to work on acclaimed dramas such as “The Gallows Pole,” “The Virtues,” and “World on Fire.”
“We believe that film and television have the power to inspire social change, and we take that responsibility seriously,” So said. “When people spend their hard-earned money to see a movie, or spend time of their lives watching something on TV, we as creators make sure that what we put out into the world is meaningful. You have to earn that privilege by making sure that Class 5 strives for the best experience, both on and off screen, with all of us working together, regardless of rank or role. Everyone is welcomed into a safe environment where their voices are encouraged and valued. We are honored to co-produce the film with Warner Music Entertainment.”
