Last week, Netflix released Lover, Stalker, Killer, a true crime documentary about an ugly love triangle.
According to Netflix, the documentary, directed by Sam Hobkinson, depicts how mechanic Dave Krupa becomes embroiled in an internet dating nightmare. It involves deception, harassment, stalking, arson, and ultimately a shocking death.
“I thought I saw it all,” said Detective Chris Legrow, who investigated the case and shared his experience in the documentary. “I’ve never seen anything like this.”
“Lovers, Stalkers, Killers” features Krupa, LeGrow, and other people involved in the case. They narrate how the incident turned out, and Krupa even reenacts some dramatic moments.
Who is Dave Krupa?
Krupa moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 2012 as a single father, according to Time. As she began her new life, she tried online dating for the first time, joining her dating site Plenty of Fish.
There he hooked up with Shanna “Liz” Golyal and began dating her casually, without seeking a serious relationship. He was also casually dating Kari Farber at the same time. He had previously met Faber at an auto shop and later noticed that she had her “Plenty of Fish” profile.
According to The Independent, Golyal and Farber were both single mothers living in Iowa.
The documentary depicts what happened after Farber encountered Golyal outside Krupa’s apartment. Their brief encounter turned everything upside down.

After a few weeks of dating Krupa, Farber suddenly disappeared in November 2012. However, even after her disappearance, she appears to have been sending threatening messages to both Krupa and Golyal, The Independent reported.
According to People magazine, the situation gradually deteriorated, with Krupa and those close to her receiving an onslaught of aggressive phone calls and emails every day from various contacts and aliases.

According to Time magazine, they made a shocking discovery and concluded that Farber was murdered by Golyal on the same night Krupa received the harassing messages.
They claimed that Golyal had been impersonating Farber throughout the entire time, going so far as to set the house on fire in an attempt to frame Amy Flora, Krupa’s ex-partner and with whom he had two children.
In “Lover, Stalker, Killer,” Krupa talks about learning their conclusion for the first time.
“My head was spinning,” Krupa said in the documentary. “I went to the back of the store where my toolbox was and just leaned against it and cried. I was looking at the pieces of the puzzle and trying to put them together. …Liz was stalking me the whole time.”
