Netflix has another Christmas treat for you! People living in the US will be watching the recently released direct-to-video action thriller. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. double team, kickboxerand I can’t run away anywhere. The new film will be streamed on Netflix in the U.S. for 18 months starting December 25, 2024 under Sony Pictures’ first window deal.
Set seven years after the events of the first film, former CIA spy Philippe (played by Van Damme) and his daughter Vanessa (Jacqueline Fernandez) live haphazardly in a small Italian village. However, their new peaceful life doesn’t last long as they are tracked down by an old enemy seeking revenge. The trailer below gives you a good idea of what to expect, especially since the narrator is an epic figure from Honest Trailers.
So, what were the reviews like? There’s not much information online, but those who reviewed it with low expectations were pleasantly surprised. Action Elite magazine gave the film three stars out of five, calling it an “excellent sequel” and saying, “It’s not too much of a compliment to say that Kill ‘Em All 2 is better than its predecessor. “It’s not a big deal, but I had a good time here.” There’s still plenty of action (despite the obvious use of a body double) and it’s a lively watch at about 85 minutes. ”
On IMDb, the film currently sits at a 4.0/10, with many criticizing the forgettable series’ weak plot. Some emphasized that the small budget and waste of JCVD’s talent would tarnish his legacy. Others were more forgiving, saying the views were stunning and they felt classic Van Damme nostalgia.
