Over the summer, Netflix suffered a major breach, which saw several anime titles leaked. One such title is Mononokai the Movie: Monster in the Rainhas not been officially connected to a streamer until now, but today Netflix confirmed that it will soon stream the film following its October debut.
This work, directed by Kenji Nakamura, is a long-awaited sequel to the series, which is a spin-off of the 2007 animated version of the movie. Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales.
Here’s what you can expect from the new film, which is set to make its U.S. debut at the Animation is Film Festival in October.
This work boasts unprecedented visual beauty and is set in the “Ooku,” the wife of Edo Castle, and is depicted as if it were a picture scroll. Bold art, a new animation method that combines CG and the texture of Japanese paper, a number of distinctive shots, and a unique use of color create an overwhelming and immersive world. With the drug dealer’s unique elegance, the film immerses the viewer in a rich and deep setting. ”
The Japanese audio cast for the film (you can also expect an English dub) is as follows:

A new trailer, described by ScreenRant as “stunningly beautiful” and “mind-blowing” and very faithful to the original style, was released today on Netflix Animation.
As mentioned earlier, this was one of about a dozen titles leaked from one of Netflix’s third-party partners earlier this year. There were also other Western music titles such as: spellbound and planktonand other anime like Dan da dun was also involved in the leak.
There is no release date for the movie yet, but we suspect it will be released before the end of the year.
