Liam Payne’s sister has spoken out following his tragic and shocking death.
The 31-year-old fell to his death from a three-story balcony while staying at a hotel in Argentina this week.
Authorities are investigating the incident and trying to determine exactly what happened, but unfortunately at this time it seems clear that Mr. Payne was in a very difficult mental state.
Now, as fans try to process this unexpected loss, Payne’s brother has released an emotional message in honor of his older brother.
Ruth Gibbons wrote on Instagram on October 19th: “Liam is my best friend. No one makes me laugh more than him. Whenever I say what I think of him, I wince. He loved seeing how funny he was. Liam is my best friend.” ”
Ruth then reflected on the early days of Payne’s long career, when he joined One Direction as a contestant on The X Factor in 2010.
“He left home at the age of 17 to pursue his dreams, which allowed me to finally pass my driving test during the X Factor live show,” she continued. .
“I couldn’t bear the thought of losing contact with him. I would regularly drive to have tea with him after work just to sit and hang out.”
Many of Payne’s loved ones have expressed shock and sadness following his death, including his former One Direction co-star and girlfriend Katie Cassidy.
But it’s hard not to be particularly touched by the reaction from Liam’s family.
“Liam loved 1D, he loved the brothers, and we talked about it a lot. He played song after song that had been recorded but never used, and we sat down and played mini We were having a 1D concert,” Ruth continued.

Payne’s sister concluded:
