hollywood, florida – Abe Masre was grieving Sunday after his 3-year-old Shih Tzu, Luna, was killed in a vicious attack in the Oakwood Hills community in Hollywood’s Liberia neighborhood.
Hollywood police spokeswoman Deanna Bettineschi said officers found a small dog dead outside a home on Lowry Avenue west of North 26th Street.
“He grabbed her by the neck and she was crying,” Masleh said.
Masleh said two large dogs without leashes attacked her two small dogs. Surveillance camera video showed four dogs running. He said the man used a stick and a machete, but the gunman did not let go of her hand until she died in the garage.
“I tried to save her, but I couldn’t,” Masleh said.
Surveillance video showed the woman and the man, who had other dogs, arriving at the home. Mr Masleh said the culprit required stitches.
Bettineschi said in a statement that officers issued a citation to the owner of the dog that attacked him and the investigation continues.
