A line has been drawn. Side selected. And the Brown family is pretty broken.
And the only person who doesn’t seem to like the arrangement is the one whose family mostly agrees on the reason for the separation.
So far in season 19, sister wife It shows the horror of divorce. Filmed during the holiday season at the end of 2022, fans have watched the Brown family live as a family of four instead of multiple large families.
Some films have fared better than others, but producers seem to be trying to focus on Kody’s relationship with his children (both estranged and otherwise).
It is unclear whether this decision was made in response to Garrison’s death.
But what is clearly clear is that Kodi’s children fall into two categories in their father’s eyes: loyal or rude.
Grandpa Kody meets new friends
Mykelti is one of the few older children who maintains a relationship with his father. In the fourth episode of season 19, she invites her father and his last remaining wife, Robin, to meet her newborn twins.
It’s an unusually tender moment in a very tense situation. In her confessional, Robin explains that Mykelti seems more “true.” This means that, unlike Kody’s other siblings, Mykelti does not blame or harbor any ill will towards his father for the family’s demise.
But when Kody suggested that Mykelti move onto the Coyote Pass property and build a home nearby with Robin, her reaction was the same as that of many other families.
“No way in hell,” she says.
Mykelti may have forgiven his father for his past misdeeds, but he clearly has no interest in bringing his young family back into that special group.
Christine said: “She’s not afraid to ask for what she needs. Every child deserves to just turn a page from Mykelti’s book.”
The pain of the new coronavirus lives on
For the first time this season, fans got up close to Gabriel, Janelle, and Kody’s eldest son.
He visits his mother’s apartment just before Christmas and they have a heart-to-heart conversation over breakfast. What’s the topic? Kody and Robin.
“Even after the coronavirus scare ended and we all returned to our normal lives, we still couldn’t reconcile as a family because Kody felt the boys needed to apologize to him and Robyn, especially as a family. To Robin.”
Fans will recall that Kody has advocated for very strict regulations within his family during the pandemic. Additionally, for most of that period, he refused to see Robin outside of the home with his other wives and children.
This includes missing out on daughter Isabel’s spinal surgery. They also ordered the older boys, including Gabe, to leave Janelle’s house after Garrison allegedly made them all sick after meeting his girlfriend.
When it comes to Janelle’s kids, Savannah seems to be the only one who will “meet him where he is.” Gabe admits he has talked to a counselor about his feelings, but he can’t do the same.
“He texted me and said, ‘I forgive you, please forgive me.’ I was like, ‘Why would you forgive me?’
blame game
The distinct differences in Mykelti’s relationship with Gabe’s father were summed up pretty perfectly later in the episode.
It all depends on Robin.
Mykelti accepted Kody’s fourth wife. She even included herself in the birth of the twins, much to the displeasure of their biological mother, Christine.
Meanwhile, Gabe says he can’t stand Kody’s blatant “favoritism” towards Robin and their children. Therefore, he is not going to give Kody what he really wants, and that is eternal loyalty.
“That she actually believed that we were abusing her or her children in any way, when she was always favored by the father and we were always working on our relationship with our children. “If you do,” Gabe explains.
“If she really believes that, there’s no chance I’ll ever have a relationship with Robin again.”
Janelle added that Kody’s approach to relationships has changed since Robyn joined the family. Instead of asking for “love and charity,” he asked for “loyalty and respect.”
And she has a point. If they treat this episode like a drinking game, when the only rule is to drink every time Kody talks about “loyalty,” they’ll definitely be in the ER before watching next week’s promo !
cry at christmas
But this story about Robin is kind of ironic considering she seems to be the only one of them all clinging to the hope of repairing the family.
Janelle is clear. She doesn’t want reconciliation for her children, she wants peace. Christine went further, avoiding even discussing Kodi and loudly insisting on his new name, David.
And Meri, who was most likely to get things done, could now be released (i.e. divorced through the church) because Kody would just give her trash talk to anyone who would listen. I’m more excited than ever.
(Meri is also someone who clearly wasn’t “faithful” to Kodi, but that seems to be code for her not being able to keep quiet about the breakup and telling the church…)
At 1 a.m. on Christmas Eve, Robin films a tearful confession from the bathroom floor. Despondent and visibly depressed, she deplores the fact that Meri refuses to come on Christmas Day, and once again the whole family will not be together for the holiday.
But what about Kodi?
“When he’s not expressing his anger, he’s vulnerable. He misses family experiences,” Robin admits, including spending one-on-one time with his new grandchildren. It seems to be true about this.
Kody seems more interested in investing in their marriage and their “special” connection than living in the past.
“Let’s move one,” he says. “Let it go. It was never meant to be. It was never meant to work.”
But can she? Considering all the divorce talk, things might not turn out the way Kodi expected.
But only time will tell!
