Only 3 episodes left until season 19 sister wife Here’s what we can tell you.
Kody Brown hasn’t changed at all.
Leading up to this season, many fans wondered how Kody would be able to continue on the show considering he is no longer married to three of his four wives. Indeed, the season will take place just weeks after he and Meri part ways in 2022.
But in reality, it feels weird to watch a show about polygamy where polygamy doesn’t exist. Instead, we witness the messy aftermath, which involves the father navigating adult relationships with his children.
And he’s doing a terrible job. Just ask his wife.
‘Sister Wives’ Season 19 Episode 3 Recap: Worst Father of the Year?
We rejoined the Brown family shortly after Mykelti gave birth to her twins. What should be a happy moment for the family turns out to be a little more…complicated.
Mykelti remains close to Kody’s last remaining wife, Robyn, and invited her to spend time with him during the birth and the days that followed. This also led to an awkward situation with her own mother, Christine, who was there for her daughter.
What’s interesting is that Kody continues to portray his exes as bitter, angry, but especially rude to Robin.
But when Robin and Christine come face to face as new grandmothers helping Mykelti, nothing seems far from the truth. Christine is kind to Robin and even praises him for sleeping in the closet just to be near the twins.
Janelle echoed that sentiment, pointing out that it is possible for them all to “coexist peacefully.”
When it’s time to go home, Robin cries in the car. “I absolutely love being a grandma,” she says, knowing that the time she spent with Mykelti and Christine offers a glimpse of what was lost.
Kody, who did not join her, said in a confessional:
“I’m having a hard time getting in touch with all my kids.
person with four thanksgivings
A week after the twins are born, the family gets accustomed to their own Thanksgiving celebrations. Christine has a family in Utah, Janelle brings the kids to Las Vegas, and Kody and Robyn settle in for their first Thanksgiving with their kids.
Meri declines Robin’s invitation. “I’m not part of the family,” Meri insists in her confessional. It was later revealed that Meri had been unwell and alone that day, which Robin felt incredibly guilty about.
But Kodi isn’t like that. No, he seems very happy to have this small gathering. “I feel safe,” he told the camera. “We all have respect for each other.”
And all Kodi wants is respect and harmony. It seems reasonable until you realize why he doesn’t have it on other kids.
That’s when Robin steps in and reminds him.
Kody and Robin’s “Heat Exchange”
Quite suddenly, the screen goes black and viewers are told that the camera has arrived just as Kody is driving away from his house after a “heated exchange” with Robin.
When he returns, the cameras start rolling as Robin confronts Kody about not reaching out to his children.
As you know, most of his children with his ex-wife are in their 20s. Some are married and have children of their own. Many of Kody’s children are angry with him due to their conflict during the coronavirus pandemic and his divorce from their mother.
And Kodi is going to put this responsibility on everyone but himself.
“I’m not going to sit here and fight with you guys and cause a rift in our relationship because of the people who have made the most of my life,” he told Robin as the argument continued. Said.
The “these people” he refers to can basically be anyone. His ex-girlfriend, their children – he drops daughter Madison’s name at one point, but perhaps most of all she sets very clear boundaries with him. So much so that she didn’t allow her children to interact with Logan at his wedding.
Janelle explains that Madison and the other children feel that Kody has “abandoned” them and are too conflicted to be a part of their lives. Then and now, they demand more from him than he is willing to give.
But Robin thinks it’s Kody’s responsibility to try harder. She is a child of divorce and knows firsthand what it feels like to feel that your father has abandoned you. She doesn’t want that for Kody’s kids.
victim cody
But the truth is that Kodi cannot emotionally bear facing children and their “scorn.” First, he refuses to admit that he did anything wrong.
“The only thing I’m guilty of is not falling madly in love with their mothers,” he insists many times.
“Some people think that parent-child relationships don’t necessarily have to be mutually beneficial, but as adults, they certainly do,” he added.
And it’s this: Kody feels like a victim. Rather than listening to his children and listening to their complaints, he ignores how his children feel about him by turning a blind eye or showing unwavering loyalty. I am fixated on Iruka.
In fact, Kody even confesses that he can’t have adult conversations with his kids about their feelings.
“I’m so angry about what happened that I’m worried that if I tell my kids, they’ll blame me…I’m just bitter and angry deep down. I am.
Robin asks him to promise to keep trying, even saying that she is starting to lose respect for him because he is not trying hard enough to be the kind of father his children need. I will force you to.
He promises her he’ll try, but he knows it won’t be resolved “today, tomorrow, or next week.”
And the truth is, in some cases he never had a chance to repair it, as we all know by the way he described his relationship with Garrison before he died.
