Duchess Kate has attracted unwanted attention from conspiracy theorists who claim the Princess of Wales never had cancer.
As you may know, Kate took a hiatus from public life in early 2024.
No explanation was given for several weeks, and rumors circulated as to the cause of her absence.
Eventually, Kate revealed that she had been battling cancer.
Thankfully, her treatment went as planned and it was revealed in September that Kate had completed chemotherapy.
But now conspiracy theorists are convinced Kate was lying about her illness.
Questions about Duchess Kate’s cancer
Over the weekend, Kate took part in traditional Remembrance Day events across the UK. Observers were surprised at how healthy and energetic she looked immediately after the treatment was completed.
However, these observations led to suspicions and a September article by Sky News journalist Rhiannon Mills was shared by several social media users.
“In March, the Princess confirmed that precancerous cells were discovered following abdominal surgery and that she would have to undergo preventive chemotherapy,” Mills wrote.
As The Daily Beast points out, Mills is a member of the so-called Royal Directory, a group of journalists who maintain friendly relations with Buckingham Palace.
Her claims therefore carry more weight than those of most other royal reporters.
The magazine also spoke with doctors who confirmed that there is a big difference between cancerous and pre-cancerous cells.
“You either have precancerous cells or you have cancer. The two terms are not interchangeable,” the doctor said.
Kate’s new controversy
Naturally, this situation caused controversy on social media.
According to Page Six, one X (ex-Twitter) user claimed that Duchess Kate “thought it appropriate to post a condolence card at a time when the royal family’s popularity is at an all-time low.”
“A pre-cancerous diagnosis is never cancer. … She squeezed this out beyond what she could take. [sic]” a second user claimed.
Other users defended Kate, pointing out that “pre-cancerous cells can easily evolve into cancer.”
However, while some commenters criticized Kate for looking too fit, one journalist strangely claimed that she had aged considerably in recent months.
strange attack method
good morning uk Journalist Narinder Kaur tweeted on Monday that Duchess Kate “looked older” during a recent appearance. She later apologized for this statement, but did not retract it.
“I just put out a tweet. A genuine question about why Kate Middleton has aged so much. That was really what was being asked,” Nauru tweeted.
“I thought maybe she was a smoker. On second thought, that was a stupid and insensitive tweet.”
Ms Kaul also retweeted Duchess Kate’s claim that she has “never had cancer”.
So people who think Kate looks young and healthy think she never had cancer. And people who think she looks like an “older” smoker also think she didn’t have cancer.
The life of a princess is even more difficult than Disney movies would have us believe.
