Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard continue to honor the memory of their stillborn daughter.
This year, Jill Duggar is teasing a new project. Many fans believe this is a sequel to her memoir.
2024 was an eventful year for both Jill and her husband. Earlier this year, it was revealed that she had given birth to a stillborn child.
Six months after that loss, Jill and Derrick are mourning the daughter they might have lost.
Derick Dillard and Jill Duggar visited their stillborn daughter’s gravesite
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Jill Duggar took to Instagram to share a clip of herself, Derick, and her youngest son Freddie Dillard picking out flowers. This was not a whim, but a bittersweet tribute.
“I was informed that Islay’s marker was ready and installed,” Jill shared on her social media page.
Jill continued: “So we’re going to run to her cemetery and see her marker for the first time and give her some fresh flowers.”
As you can see, the video is quite short. We see Jill, Derrick, and Freddie arrive at the cemetery. Later, her 2-year-old son helps place flowers near Ira’s memorial.
The sign itself reads, “Marie Dillard Island, March 19, 2024. Born in the arms of Jesus.”
Marker added, “I missed being loved by my mom and dad and my three older brothers.”
“Sounds great,” one Instagram commenter began. “Your little guardian angel is always watching over you. Sending hugs to you all!”
Another Instagram user wrote: “You picked a beautiful stone for her.” “Even after 25 years, my mother and I are still placing flowers on my sister’s stone. Sending all our heart and love to her!!”
Additional commenters said: “What a wonderful day to celebrate the life of your precious little girl. We’ll see her again someday. Hugs to you all.”
In April 2024, Jill Duggar revealed that she and her family held a funeral after giving birth to a stillborn child. Among other things, she shared a photo of a small white box.
She labeled the photo collage “Isla Marie, our baby girl.” “We will love you forever and hold you in our hearts until we welcome you to heaven.”
Jill added, “He was laid to rest on April 19, 2024.” Therefore, although October 19th is not the stillbirth itself, it is the 6th anniversary of this memorial.
Grief is hard, but it’s part of healing
This is not the first time Jill has experienced such loss. In 2021, before Freddie was born, she and Derrick mourned a miscarriage and revealed they would have named their child River Bliss.
Many people, religions and cultures share different beliefs about stillbirth and miscarriage. In Jill’s case, her fundamentalist upbringing and current beliefs led her to treat these losses the same as losing a living child, even if she had never met them. Ta.
Similarly, she (and some of her commenters) believes in an afterlife where her soul will meet these children, along with other deceased loved ones. We hope these beliefs and the love of her family will comfort her as she overcomes her grief.
