former NFL star eddie lacey He’s lucky he didn’t injure himself or others the night he was arrested for drunk driving last month…because police say he drove with a blood alcohol content over four times the legal limit. This is because they claim that it was.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department, it all happened on September 30th…A woman called 911 to report that a person matching the description of Lacey’s Audi SUV was driving very erratically. She said she was worried that she might kill someone, and then called the police.
According to an SPD police report: TMZ SportsMoments after receiving the call, police pulled Lacey over in his Q8… and almost immediately, officers knew something was off about the former Green Bay Packers tailback.
“Eddie spoke slowly and as soon as I started talking to him, he slurred and mumbled,” one officer wrote in the document.
Body camera footage showed Lacey struggling to form smooth, coherent sentences even after the officer said he recognized him from his time with the Alabama Crimson Tide. It shows that.
But Lacey was able to say he had arrived on a flight from Green Bay and was headed to his girlfriend’s house. He repeatedly stated that his girlfriend’s house was only a few yards away.
However, when questioned further during the stop, Lacey told one of the officers at the scene that he had taken a “single shot” of tequila on the flight to Arizona.
Police eventually removed Lacey from the car and forced him to blow into a breathalyzer, although various field sobriety tests could not be conducted due to injuries Lacey said he sustained as a soccer player. The result was .325.
When asked if she knew what the legal limit was in Arizona, Lacey said, “Yes,” noting, “I’ve already had bad experiences with drunk driving in the past.” However, Lacey couldn’t decide whether 0.08 was the correct number.
Police then tapped the 34-year-old man on the cuff and told him he had been arrested for drunk driving.
He has since faced several criminal charges, according to court records. 1 case of extreme drunk driving BAC is 0.20 or higher. He is scheduled to meet with a judge for a hearing on the matter later next month.
As Lacey pointed out in the police video, this isn’t the first time he’s been arrested for extremely drunk driving…according to police documents we obtained, he drove around Scottsdale in March 2022. He was accused of having a BAC of 0.247.
