A new trailer for James Gunn’s Creature Commandos animated series was released by Max at New York Comic Con. The seven-episode season will premiere on December 5th, with new episodes released weekly until January 16th.
According to the official logline, “‘Creature Commandos’ follows a secret team of imprisoned monsters recruited for a mission deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… That is the last worst option.”
The cast includes Steve Agee as Economos, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana, Anya Chalotra as Circe, Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., GI Robot & They include Sean Gunn as Weasel, David Harbor as Frankenstein, and Alan Tudyk as Dr. Lin, Indira Varma as the bride, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
Creature Commandos is the first title to be released from Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC studio, which will reboot the DC Universe. The show picks up after Season 1 of Gunn’s Peacemaker, with Davis’ character Amanda Waller assembling a brand new black ops team — think Suicide Squad, but with undead creatures.
The show, written and executive produced by Gunn, is based on DC characters and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation. Additional executive producers include Safran, Dean Lowry, and Sam Register. Rick Morales will serve as supervising producer.
Next up for this new DC Universe are Season 2 of “Peacemaker,” in which John Cena plays the titular antihero, and Gunn’s reboot of “Superman,” starring David Corenswet. “Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow,” starring Millie Alcock from “House of the Dragon,” “The Authority,” “The Brave and the Bold,” “Swamp Thing,” TV shows such as “Lantern”, “Waller”, “Paradise Lost” and “Booster Gold”.
