A circus acrobat fell nearly 20 feet while performing and broke both of his arms. The entire situation was captured on camera.
Spectators, including children, gasped as aerial gymnasts Valeria Zapashnaya During a performance in the Russian city of Kemerovo, he failed a trick and caused a shocking dive.
At first, everything seemed to be going well, as Zapashnaya clung to her male partner and began spinning above the center ring without a safety belt.
But when she attempted a backflip, things took a turn for the worse. Instead of landing gracefully between her partner’s outstretched legs, she misjudged and crashed to the floor.
Program director, Jaroslav Zapashnyrevealed that he had already undergone surgery on one of his broken arms.
He also stressed that although the accident was due to human error on her part, Valeria is doing well and is ready to return to acting as soon as possible.
Apparently this isn’t her first rodeo. Just 18 months earlier, Zapashnaya, a member of Russia’s famous circus dynasty, had broken her arm and suffered a laceration to her forehead after another episode of severe wetting.
