Cap is back…again!
Marvel released the latest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World on Saturday at D23, its first ever Brazilian fan event. Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson/Captain America, and Danny Ramirez, who plays Joaquin Torres/Falcon, came out to greet fans before the new trailer was shown.
The film also stars Mackie as Sam Wilson, Harrison Ford as U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, Ramirez as the new Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, and Israeli superhero Sabra as The cast includes Sheila Haas, Giancarlo Esposito as Sidewinder, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Tim. Blake Nelson is the leader.
Mackie takes over the mantle of Cap from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, who famously starred in the previous three Captain America films and four Avengers films. At the end of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Steve bids farewell to his fellow superheroes and returns to the past to start a new life with his beloved Peggy Carter. He gives Sam the iconic vibranium shield, and Sam vows to follow in the footsteps of the world-famous hero and do the right thing.
The first time Marvel fans saw Sam suit up as Cap was in the Disney+ TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. There, Sam teams up with antihero Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, played by Sebastian Stan, to take down a group of terrorists. The show not only received five Emmy nominations, but also received praise from fans and critics alike.
In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam is approached by Ross with a convincing offer. Ross wants to make Captain America an agent of the United States. Sam is skeptical, but before making a decision, the hero must stop a would-be assassin at the White House. Ford’s Ross also transforms into Red Hulk, another gamma-irradiated monster who is Ross’ alter ego in Marvel Comics.
Captain America: Brave New World is directed by Julius Onah and written by Malcolm Spellman, Darran Masson, and Matthew Orton. The film will be released in theaters on February 14, 2025.
