What is the relationship between the Absolute Universe and the Dark Side?
How Darkseid created the world in his image
If you’re a DC fan like me, you’re probably paying close attention to anything and everything related to DC All In and the new Absolute Universe. But for those unfamiliar, DC writers Joshua Williamson and Scott Snyder first revealed details of their plans for DC All In back in July. This initiative introduces an entirely new direction and storyline for the Prime Universe; A new world known as the Absolute Universe featuring dramatically different versions of iconic DC heroes.
Absolute lines start with
absolute batman
,
absolute wonder woman
and
Absolute superhuman
.
We all got to see the plans and designs for these new interpretations of our favorite heroes, but while we didn’t know what exactly would lead to this new world, Snyder did say that this new world would be It was hinted that it was built on “Dark Side Energy” in the same way that Prime Earth was based on Superman. After months of waiting, the dam finally bursts, details are revealed, and Darkseid’s death will shape and change the young and impressionable Elsworld (Earth created in Snyder’s last big DC event). It became clear that something was going to happen. Toward a world that reflects the oppressive ideals of the dark side..
And yes, we’re seeing it happening here DC All In Special #1. After Darkseid is separated from the Multiverse and goes insane, his body is destroyed and his energy is sent to Elsworld, dramatically impacting the standard DC timeline. On this Earth, heroes don’t have what Prime heroes have, such as Batman’s privileged upbringing or Wonder Woman’s connection to the Amazon sisters. In this new world, hope is the enemy; Chaos is the natural state of the dark side world.
Booster Gold’s costume change provides an important clue
DC All In spans the entire DC timeline
What impressed me was DC All In Special #1but what really grabbed my attention was Booster’s Absolute Journey into Space. As cool as it was to see Booster come back wearing his old costume (and that spicy collar), I immediately did a double-take. Somehow the booster future Even though he was gone from this world, somehow he regained the costume he hadn’t worn in years. What makes this situation even stranger is that in half of Darkside’s specials, Booster Gold still appears to be wearing modern clothing (without his distinctive collar).
As mentioned before, there are some other strange moments, especially when time seems to fly by. Immediately after Batman warns not to lose sight of Booster, the panel of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman is repeated. It’s hard to say what that repeated conversation means, but perhaps branching timelines have just been created? Another oddity is that we see both parts of the special show. Booster Gold discovers a modified flight ring in Absolute Space, but the ring appears in a different hand in each story.
DC is on the verge of changing its schedule
The Booster Gold costume is just the beginning
This new era has just begun, but I love coming up with wild theories. Time is chaotic in the Absolute Universe, and it has been pointed out that the malfunctioning time flow could explain why Booster traveled to the past while regaining his old costume. We also saw Darkseid’s death create a portal between the Absolute and Prime universes. The unstable nature of the former may have influenced the latter, explaining why Trinity’s dialogue is repeated. The return of Booster Gold’s costume is more than just a fun Easter eggThis suggests that big changes to DC’s timeline may be on the way.
I don’t want to throw around the word “reboot” just yet, but if there’s one thing that happens when time travelers are involved, it’s a transition to a timeline (The Flash, right?). With Darkseid’s new world already causing minor glitches in reality, I wouldn’t be surprised if we start seeing other changes to DC’s continuity, such as origin changes or history tweaks. Of course, this is only the best-case scenario. If Darkseid’s new absolute universe does not reign soon, booster gold You don’t have to worry much about switching costumes.
