Shane Romanchick is Collider’s TV and movie news writer. He also runs his own blog, Entertainment Reviews, where he writes and reviews his latest movies. He graduated from Regis University in his 2019 year with a bachelor’s degree in communications and minors in both film studies and writing.
His love of writing and movies began at a very young age, with his earliest memory being watching Blue’s Cruise when he was three months old. This show means the world to him because it allowed him to unleash his creative side and feel comfortable with who he is. From there, Shane became a huge fan of comics and comics. He spent most of his childhood watching Scooby-Doo, Courage, Batman, and Justice League. Some of his favorite childhood movies include Scooby-Doo 2002, Batman Begins, and Spider-Man.
Shane discovered his love for horror in high school. When he first saw movies like Halloween, Scream, and Friday the 13th, he never looked back. He was a lifelong horror fan. Paranormal Activity 4, It Follows, and Annabelle were the first movies he worked up the courage to see in theaters. Ten years later, he has become an expert in this genre. Black His Christmas, Anna and the Apocalypse, Oculus, and It Follows are some of his favorite movies. But it was slasher movies that became his real solace. Scream VI, Freaky, Sick, Terriifier 2, and X are some of his recent favorites. Plus, he’s a huge Halloween fan and never apologizes for his love of Halloween Kills and Ends. When it comes to action, Shane is also a huge James Bond fan, and says the ending of No Time to Die was the hardest he’s ever cried in a theater.
But Shane is more than just a movie buff. He also loves video games. His favorites include Super Mario Sunshine, The Last of Us Parts 1 and 2, and Batman: Arkham City. Music also plays a big role in his life. Considering Shane is a huge fan of horror, you might be surprised to learn that his favorite genre is pop. Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato play on repeat as I write.
In his free time, Shane loves running and playing with his 16-year-old beagle, Butterscotch. Butters for short, she is the greatest love of his life and inspires him every day with both her creativity and emotions. In addition to that, he is also a big collector now. He loves his Funko He Pops, McFarlane He Toys, Neca Huge Horror figures. Over the past two years, he has had many conversations to purchase an unhealthy amount of figures. This also introduced him to some of his favorite filmmakers and actors, including Mike Flanagan, Matthew Lillard, John Carpenter, Grace Caroline Curry, Steve Burns, and Kathryn Newton.
Shane has been writing for Collider since October 2021 and is loving every minute of it. But someday he wants to become a screenwriter. He is currently working on his first screenplay, tentatively titled The Alien Murders, which he describes as Halloween III meets The Faculty.
