An interview with Boris Johnson scheduled to be broadcast on BBC One on Thursday night has been canceled after presenter Laura Kuenssberg said she had mistakenly sent the former British Prime Minister her meeting notes.
In a post on Wednesday Night X, Kuenssberg, a mainstay at the station who currently hosts the weekend interview show “Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg,” called the blunder “embarrassing and disappointing.” Ta.
“As I was preparing to interview Boris Johnson tomorrow, I accidentally sent him a briefing note as a message for the team. It clearly meant that it was not appropriate for the interview to proceed. ” Kuenssberg said in the post. “It’s so frustrating and I have so many important questions that there’s no point in pretending I’m embarrassed and sorry. But blushes aside, honesty is the best policy. See you on Sunday. .”
The BBC confirmed that the interview would not proceed, saying: “As Laura explained, interview briefing notes meant for colleagues were accidentally shared with Laura.” This will make tomorrow’s interview impossible. In the circumstances, both the BBC and Mr Johnson’s team agreed that this was the best way forward. ”
Johnson has recently been holding press conferences to promote his upcoming memoir, “Unleashed.” The Conservative politician served as British Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022 and is best known for enacting Brexit, the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union. He resigned in 2022 after it emerged that he appointed Chris Pincher as leader of the Conservative Party despite knowing about sexual misconduct allegations against him.
The BBC interview with Johnson was teased as his first since leaving office and becoming prime minister. No replacement program has been confirmed yet.
