Amy Slaton is doing her best to move on and move on from her failed marriage.
Back in October, the reality star officially finalized her divorce from Michael Halterman, her high school sweetheart, husband of four years, and father of her two young sons.
However, Slaton is still living in the house she shared with her ex-girlfriend and is dealing with the emotional fallout from when TLC cameras began filming Season 6 of 1000 Pound Sisters.
“I want to get rid of these couches because they remind me of Michael,” Slaton tearfully tells her sister Amanda in a preview of the upcoming season premiere shared by E! news.
The mother of two adds: “I want to get rid of them because I can’t stand them.”
Amanda responds with words of encouragement to help Amanda through the pain.
“We have to make new memories here to drive out the bad ones,” she tells her brother. “You don’t believe in yourself enough. You can do this.”
Earlier this year, Amy opened up about the emotional toll everything surrounding the end of her relationship took on her.
“I’ve signed the final documents. It’s the end of an era,” Slaton told her YouTube followers a while back while showing a copy of her divorce papers, adding simply: .
“I’m ready to call it a day.”
She continued at this time.
“Although the divorce was shorter than expected, say less than six months, it has taken a toll on me emotionally and physically and I am seeking help.
“Michael and I share custody. I get the boys 70% of the time, but Michael gets them 30% of the time.”
Amy, a parent of a three-year-old and a two-year-old, said at the premiere that she knows she needs to take certain steps to feel better about herself.
Even if it’s just cosmetics for now.
“Right now I’m just going to focus on myself, my mental health, my physical health and my appearance,” she says on air. “I’m ready to change my hair color. I want to grow new hair and get rid of all the excess skin.”
In fact, it looks like the process of skin removal will be a theme in Season 6 for both Amy and her sister Tammy Slaton.
“I’m just ready to start a new life,” Amy says, adding that she feels “like a deflated balloon” but remains optimistic as she tells viewers:
“I’m going to get there eventually. I’m going to find a way to love myself eventually.”
This episode was filmed long before Slaton was arrested for child endangerment and drug possession. It is unlikely that this incident will be included in new episodes of the series.
Authorities arrive for treatment after Amy is bitten by a camel at the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, Tennessee…Illegal marijuana and mushrooms are reportedly found on Amy and Brian Scott Lovborn was detained.
1000 Pound Sisters Season 6 premieres on October 8th on TLC.
