Toward the beginning of “What Have I Done to You?”, the ever-suffering Ed Schmidt mutters to the sky. ordinary angel. He is one of the two main characters dueling here, the other being Sharon, played perfectly by Hilary Swank. “Duel” means only with respect to showtime. Sure, these characters clash from time to time, but in the end, a friendship emerges that makes them take a step back and try to connect again, and perhaps even forgive their past comrades.
Ed is the father of two girls, one of whom has a failing liver and needs a transplant. He is a single father and needs help, but he won’t accept it. Sharon, a local hairdresser who is recovering from a drinking problem, also happens to come across Ed’s heartbreaking article in the newspaper.
Swank’s Southern shenanigans here may remind you of her Oscar-winning role in Clint Eastwood’s excellent film years ago. million dollar baby. She’s not pumping her fist here, but she’s metaphorical during her fundraiser on behalf of Ed’s family as she flies around town refusing to take “no” for an answer. It might be something. In that regard, there are plenty of comical relief moments, especially as Sharon’s hairdresser friend Rose (a wonderful Tamara Jones) constantly tries to keep her in check. Sharon doesn’t exactly know her boundaries, but sometimes it pays off. Her depth and warmth shine through from Swank as she watches Sharon bond with Ed’s daughters in her most heartwarming ways. of course, ordinary angel Although it sometimes lapses into naive sentimentality, you can’t help but pump your fists as Sharon works her magic and pulls off miracle after miracle that brings Ed’s baby girl one step closer to a liver transplant.

To be more specific, it touches my heart. Watch as a small community in Kentucky band together to save Ed’s sickly daughter, and the race for a liver transplant unfolds in her final 45 minutes. Sharon also involves the media to spread the word about Mother Nature’s attack and prevents the ever-determined Ed from taking a certain route to get to the right hospital.
In that respect, this is a star-making role for Ritchson outside of the action arena. He recently opened up to his MovieWeb (which you can see in the video above) about how his real-life demeanor shines through in the movie. ordinary angel In a sense. He and Ed are both stubborn “loners,” so it’s adorable how they eventually accept help from Sharon and others along the way.
And then there’s Swank, who seemed to have fallen off our radar in years past.We would love to see the actress return to the movies karate kids Franchises with upcoming final season on Netflix cobra kai. But more importantly, Hollywood needs to give Oscar winners more roles like Sharon. She’s just so charming.
