Aga Hasan Askari, the legendary director of Pakistani cinema, passed away on Monday at the age of 78.

Agha Hasan Askari (popularly known as Agha Ji), one of the most iconic filmmakers of the Lollywood industry, passed away yesterday after a prolonged illness, ARY News reported.
According to details, the Lollywood veteran had been suffering from lung cancer for many years and was undergoing treatment at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore, where he breathed his last.
Memorial prayers for the late legend will be offered today at his residence on Alamgir Street near Islamic Park on Poonch Road in Lahore after Zuhr.
Best known for his impressive work in numerous Urdu and Punjabi films, Askari started his career as an assistant director in Punjabi films. “Chang Makna”
and “Sajan Pyala” of Kaifi (Kifayat Hussein Bhatti) before joining Tariq Masood Qureshi.
His first film as a director was “Koon Pasina” Starring Firdous, Sultan Rahi, Rukhsana, and Agha Talysh.
A two-time National Film Award winner, his unforgettable works from over 60 projects include: “Wesi Jat”, “Khun Pasina”, “Sarahain”, “Khazana”, “Jannat ki tarash”, “Aag”, “Bhi Kalar”, “Doriyan”. and ‘I love you’.
Hassan Askari is survived by his widow and two children, a son and a daughter.
