Leading Malaysian director Adrian Teh has begun filming the high-stakes heist thriller “Magic Lompak”.
The story follows a leading magician who gathers a reluctant crew for a bold and daring heist to steal a precious jewel. As their pasts intertwine and the stakes rise, the team must perfect the art of illusion, confront their own weaknesses, and orchestrate the ultimate act of vanishing to protect their future.
“Magik Rompak” is structured as a co-production between ACT 2 Pictures (Malaysia) and Clover Films (Singapore). Mei Wu (ACT 2), Clover Film’s Pauline Chua, and Lim Teck will serve as executive producers.
Clover will be in charge of overseas sales. GSC will be responsible for theatrical distribution in Malaysia. Clover and GV will handle theatrical distribution in Singapore.
The film, which has a budget of US$3 million (RM13 million), broke ground on November 9. The film will be shot entirely in Malaysia over a 50-day production period, with some parts scheduled to be shot at Iskandar Malaysia Studios in Johor. Singaporean visual effects company WOWFX Studios will create the majority of the film’s sophisticated digital effects.
The ensemble cast is led by Sharnaz Ahmad (Police Evo 3), Zul Arifin (The Sheriff), Miller Khan (The Bridge), and Fabian Lu (series Fly by Night). “)is. Ahmad starred in “Police Evo 3,” which became the top local movie in 2023 with box office revenue of 54 million ringgit (approximately $12.3 million), while Ariffin earned 62 million ringgit (approximately $14.1 million) this year. He appeared in the series “Sherif”. .
