Cole Brings Plenty — the actor best known for his role in the Yellowstone spinoff 1923 — was found dead in Kansas this week.
The discovery came days after he was named as a suspect in a domestic violence case and a missing person report was filed.
He was 27 years old.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this sad and puzzling news in a press release on Friday, April 5th at approximately 11:45 a.m.
They explained that after deputies received a report of an unoccupied vehicle…
“Police responded to the scene and found a deceased male in a wooded area away from the vehicle. The deceased male was identified as Cole Brings Plenty, 27.”
The cause of death was not immediately disclosed, but the sheriff’s office said it is currently under investigation.
Cole is the nephew of Yellowstone star Mo Brings Plenty, pictured below.
He was last seen driving a white Ford Explorer in Lawrence, Kansas, on March 31, and was reported missing the next day, raising concerns from those who have worked with the actor. A voice rose.
For example, Yellowstone star Cole Hauser wrote on Instagram on April 2, “My good friend @mobringsplenty’s nephew is missing.”
“He was last seen on Easter night in Kansas City.”
Moe Brings Plenty shared a missing poster of her nephew on Instagram earlier this month, announcing that she had a loved one.
According to the poster, he missed an appointment with a TV agent, which he said was “unthinkable” and caused alarm within his family.
Cole, who played shepherd Pete Plenty Clouds in 1923, was named as a suspect in a case “involving allegations of domestic violence” around that time.
According to this same release, authorities “responded to a report of a female screaming for help” at the apartment Sunday morning.
After the investigation identified Brings-Plenty as the suspect, “traffic cameras showed him leaving the city immediately after the incident.
In addition to being named a suspect, police said “there was probable cause for his arrest and local authorities were alerted.”
In addition to his role in the Yellowstone prequel, Cole also appeared in episodes of Jim Bridger’s Tall Tales and Into the Wild Frontier.
