Olivia Williams has given acclaimed performances in Rushmore, The Sixth Sense, and An Education. She recently appeared as Camilla Parker Bowles in the final two seasons of Netflix’s hit drama series The Crown. But for many, the British actor will always be Felicity from the Season 4 finale of Friends. Williams once called guest starring on the NBC sitcom “disastrous,” but she opened up to The Independent in a recent interview about why it wasn’t her best experience.
“Oh my god. Well, just one example, I was carpooled to the studio with a great actress, and I think her character was called ‘The Old Lady,'” Williams said. However, at one point a producer (who will remain anonymous) yelled at her: ‘You’re not funny!’ And the next day too. She didn’t come back. So that was alarming.”
“Oh, ‘Friends’ was a brand, so we had to fit into that brand,” Williams added. “When you walk into a hair and makeup setting, they say, ‘Look at this, this is what we do,’ and that included basically plucking out all your eyebrows. Literally. [I was begging], “Please don’t remove my eyebrows, I might need them for another job!” But, sure, it was disastrous in that sense. ”
variety has reached out to Warner Bros. Discovery for comment.
Williams appeared as Felicity in the two-part season finale of Friends Season 4, Ross’s Wedding. This episode centers on the main characters heading to London for Ross and Emily’s wedding. The event infamously ends with Ross accidentally saying Rachel’s name during her vows. Williams’ Felicity is one of Emily’s bridesmaids and attracts Joey’s attention.
“Maybe I could get more work done if I just kept quieter,” Williams joked to The Independent. “I might actually be on the socialist actor blacklist, I don’t know…”
The Independent said: “Providing for her mother was never her forte.” The actor once called the American television industry “a combination of a piranha pit and a cesspool.” Once she used “cucumber butt” as an adjective to describe one of her characters. She once said that she became good friends with Arnold Schwarzenegger, her co-star in the serial killer thriller Sabotage, because “her not having big breasts was an advantage or disadvantage.” She later begged the interviewer that she not watch it. ”
Williams most recently appeared on screen in Another End, which had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year. She will also appear in Dune: The Sisterhood, the TV adaptation of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune series, which will be available to stream on Max. Williams will play Tula Harkonnen.
The series is set in the world of Dune 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, and follows the Harkonnen sisters as they battle forces that threaten humanity’s future and found the legendary sect known as the Bene Gesserit. I’ll draw. This prequel is based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
