New Zealand’s Black Mandala Films has acquired the distribution rights to “Play Dead.” This new horror movie begins with a woman waking up in a basement, surrounded by corpses, fighting for her life.
The horrifying tale of survival and deception is directed by Carlos ‘Charlie’ Goitia (Nightmare Radio: The Night Stalker and The Game of 100 Candles: The Last Possession). The film was produced by Nicolas Onetti, known for his work on “1978” and “What Water Leaves Me,” and written by Gonzalo Merido and Camilo Zafora.
“Play Dead” follows the harrowing journey of Alison (played by Paula Blaska), a severely injured woman trapped in a dark and mysterious basement. Desperate to survive, she must use her wits to pretend to be dead in order to blend in with the corpses around her. As Alison desperately struggles to survive, she uncovers a horrifying secret. A grotesque, ritualistic celebration is taking place in the house upstairs. The danger increases by the minute.
This thriller takes heavy inspiration from horror classics like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Don’t Breathe, combining unrelenting tension and grotesque terror to create a truly unforgettable experience. Masu.
Black Mandala represents some of Goitia’s previous films, including “Nightmare Radio” and “The Game of 100 Candles.”
Earlier this year, the company acquired the sales rights to “1978,” a horror movie that begins with a soccer game. The film had its world premiere at the Sitges Fantasy Horror Film Festival in Spain. It had its US festival premiere at Screamfest on October 12th.
