Katherine Willows (marg helgenberger) is one of the series’ original characters, born and raised in Sin City, and has become an important resource for the team. Willows was a strong investigator with amazing instincts and skills, and was a caring mother to her daughter Lindsay.
By season 11, Willows left the team after a tragic incident involving a serial killer and accepted a job with the FBI. Fans had a hard time accepting the departure of Willows (one of the remaining original characters), but her absence didn’t last too long, as she returned to replace DB Russell as night shift supervisor. By the end of the series, Russell was hired by the FBI as the Director of Next Generation Cyber Forensics.
Danson continued to star in the film. of CSI spin-off series, CSI:Cyberbegins with Russell accepting his new position. Shortly after taking office, Russell was shot in the line of duty, and although he survived, he was forced to retire.
