The first trailer and poster for Liza Minnelli’s new documentary, Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story, have been released.
The poster features a red, white, light blue, and black illustration by artist Kee Arends of a young Minnelli with a pixie hairstyle and long eyelashes.
The trailer begins with Minnelli sitting in a chair and singing the “Cabaret” part, “Come Together, I’ve got a story to tell.” In addition to footage from the EGOT winner’s more than 50-year career, the film also features interviews with her sister Lorna Luft, the late Chita Rivera, Michael Feinstein, Darren Criss, and more. Ben Vareen is pictured tearfully talking about legendary entertainer and Hollywood royalty Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli.

The film, written and directed by Bruce David Kline, premiered at this year’s Tribeca Festival and also screened at the Hamptons Film Festival, Provincetown Film Festival, and NewFest LGBTQ+ Film Festival. It was produced by Atlas Media Corp in association with Zietgeist Films and Kino Lorber.

“Liza: The Truly Scary, Absolutely True Story” opens at the IFC Center in New York City on January 24, 2025, and at Lemurs Royal in Los Angeles and Town Center in Encino, California on January 31, 2025; It will be released nationwide.
