Many questions are being asked surrounding the One Direction alum’s tragic death. He had a complicated relationship with his former bandmates.
But they all came together in grief. Zayn has now posted a tribute to Liam, who is heading off on a music tour.
Zayn Malik praises Liam Payne
As reported at the time, Zayn Malik attended Liam Payne’s funeral along with other One Direction alumni.
Just a few days later, he began a solo tour. In fact, it’s his first time.
The start of the tour was clearly an emotional moment. Zayn made sure to pay tribute to Liam on stage.
After Zayn left the stage at the first stop of his tour, a tribute song played on the screen.
“Liam Payne. 1993 to 2024. I love you,” the message read on Saturday, November 23.
There was a red heart next to the text. And, according to what fans have posted on Twitter and elsewhere, Zayn continued to post such tributes as his early tour continued.

Why did Zayn Malik start touring so early?
Some may find it curious or insensitive that Zayn would start his tour the same week as Liam’s funeral.
But this is actually the opposite of what some people assume.
Zayn was originally scheduled to kick off his ‘Stairway to the Sky’ tour on October 23rd, but after Liam passed away a week earlier, Zayn postponed it.
“In light of the heartbreaking loss we experienced this week, we have made the decision to postpone the U.S. tour of ‘Stairs to the Sky Tour,'” Zayn wrote on Instagram at the time.
“The dates are being rescheduled for January,” he said. “As soon as it’s ready in the next few days, I’ll post it right away.”
Zayn further said: “Your tickets are still valid for the new dates. We love you all and thank you for your understanding.”
Zayn and Liam have been “at odds” for years, according to Liam’s own admission. However, the fact remains that they forged a unique bond during their time as One Direction.
Truth be told, Liam has had conflicts with several former bandmates. He was in the middle of repairing a fence when he died on October 16th.
Zayn has been active as a solo artist for eight years. This will be his first solo tour. He deserves to be honored for sharing this simple message to his deceased friend on the show.
