European Film Promotion, which supports European films and talent, has announced the jury for the 28th European Shooting Stars, which showcases actors from the continent.
The jury will be made up of 5 film experts and will select 10 actors. Afterwards, they will be included in the program of the Berlin Film Festival, which will be held from February 13th to 23rd. The jury will select actors from among candidates recommended by film promotion organizations and film centers in each country.
The jury also includes former European shooting star Ludivine Sagnier, known for her role in Francois Ozon’s films. She has appeared in films such as “Drops on a Burning Rock” (2000), “8 Women” (2002), and “The Swimming Pool” (2003). He is also scheduled to appear on the show. ” (2024). Sagnier has also worked with directors such as PJ Hogan, Lee Tamahori, Paolo Sorrentino, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Ridley Scott.
Also on the jury is Romanian film director Radu Muntean, whose films have premiered and won awards at the Locarno, Sarajevo, Cannes and Toronto film festivals. “Alice T” (2018) and “Intregarde” (2021).
He will be joined by Swiss producer Amer Soudani, founder of production company AMKA Films Productions. Her most recent works include Alice Rohrwacher’s La Chimera and Mohamed Soudani’s documentary L’Afriques les Femmes.
Another judge is Poulin Hansson, a casting director from Sweden. She was nominated for the Locarno Film Festival’s European Casting Award in 2016 (Peter Grenlund’s The Drifters) and the 2023 BAFTA Award (Ruben Östlund’s The Triangle of Sorrow) . She is currently working on Ostlund’s second English-language feature film, The Entertainment System Is Down, to be shot in 2025 and starring Keanu Reeves, Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Nicholas Braun, and Samantha・Morton will appear.
The jury was rounded out by Montenegrin journalist and curator Vuk Perovic. His journalistic work includes articles for various daily and weekly newspapers, broadcast stations, and radio and television features. Perovich is the author of the film and television show “The Seventh Continent.” He is co-founder of the international documentary film festival UnderhillFest and programmer of the Herceg Novi Film Festival – Montenegrin Film Festival.
The 10th style of shooting stars will be announced in mid-December.
At the Berlinale Film Festival, selected talent will take part in a four-day bespoke program of networking, press activities and industry events, culminating in the Shooting Stars awards ceremony on stage at the Berlinale Palast.
