ariana grandeHer appearance in musical film Wicked won’t be the last time fans will see her sing and act…the pop star has just hinted that she wants to continue doing musical theater.
The singer got hooked on the podcast “Las Culturistas,” co-hosted by her “Wicked” co-stars bowen yang similarly matt rogersand she teased future plans for her career, including a possible pivot away from pop music.
While assuring those listening that she still intends to make music, especially pop tunes, Ariana hinted that she might break away from the genre in the near future.
She said… “I’m always going to do pop stuff, I promise, but doing it at the pace I’ve been doing for the past 10 years is what I look forward to the next 10 years. I don’t think so.” ”
Ariana, who started her career on Broadway’s “13: The Musical” as a child, said she loves acting, especially musicals.
She continued… “Reconnecting with this part of myself…I love comedy and doing it heals me – finding roles that use these parts of myself. ”
Ariana’s confession comes just weeks before her debut in the long-awaited film adaptation of Wicked, the prequel musical about the witches from The Wizard of Oz.
Ariana plays opposite Glinda the Good Witch. Cynthia ErivoThe Wicked Witch of the West…but anyone who knows the story knows that these titles don’t accurately reflect the characters’ true selves.
