“Tape,” a Hong Kong remake of Richard Linklater’s 2001 psychological thriller of the same name, has been released in the American film market and will be released theatrically in the US film market. In anticipation of such a step, producers have released a trailer for “Tape.”
“Tape” explores the aftermath of a traumatic event at a high school graduation party, in which three former friends discover their true identity in a story about power, manipulation, and the subjective nature of truth. Starring Kenny Kwan (The Legend of Luzhen, The White Storm), Selena Lee (Queen of News), and Adam Pack (A Guilty Conscience), originally directed by Robert Sean Renner Do, Uma Thurman, Ethan Hawke.
The film has already been touring film festivals, making stops at the Houston Asian American Pacific Islander (HAAPI) Film Festival and the Barcelona Asian Film Festival, among others.
Beijing Sandal Digital Technology acquired the rights to the film in China, and overseas sales will be handled by EST N8. Advance theatrical screenings will begin in Hong Kong from November 16th.
