Batman (1989)

At the film’s climax, Batman chases the Joker to the roof of Gotham Cathedral, where three of the villain’s henchmen appear and attack the Dark Knight. It was generally considered to be a puzzling plot hole, as the film did not depict or explain why the three villains were there.
However, the novelization of the movie actually gave a clear and logical explanation to the mystery. The story explains that the thugs told the Joker that while the villain and Batman were fighting with the Batwings, they fled to the roof of the cathedral to get a better view of the action. The novel simply and effectively justifies the villains’ presence in the cathedral by explaining that they simply climbed there before Joker and Batman.

The DCEU movies featured many iconic DC characters, but one that stood out in his absence was Robin, Batman’s traditional sidekick.
