Cher has officially announced that she will be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, in the November election.
The singer shared the news Friday night in a video posted to her X, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. “I’ve been following Kamala Harris since she was a U.S. senator. She fought for me then, and she still fights for all of us. That’s why I’m so proud. I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” Scheer said. “I know they will fight to protect our rights and I am so grateful to be able to make my voice heard this year. I hope you will too.”
Cher is one of the celebrities supporting Harris in the upcoming election against President Trump. Fellow singers who have supported Harris’ campaign include Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Bruce Springsteen and Marc Anthony. At the Democratic National Convention in August, artists such as John Legend and Stevie Wonder performed in support of the vice president.
In July, Cher was one of several Hollywood figures to comment on President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race. Cher wrote on X that she was “tortured” by the news, saying, “I don’t believe that the Democratic Party can win the presidency with Joe and President Biden, who I have loved since we met in 2008. I campaigned,” he posted. I believe it’s time for him to pass the baton, and it’s time for Democrats to think outside the box and think “how.” Maybe it will be a split ticket. ”
