Just a few months after first revealing that Netflix would be delving into the history of one of the most iconic rock ‘n’ roll stars of all time, Netflix has officially released the upcoming hour-and-a-half documentary. The streaming service is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 13, 2024.
As we first reported on August 12, Netflix is partnering with a respected documentary filmmaker. Jason Hehirbest known for his role on ESPN last dance The docuseries was later distributed worldwide on Netflix. Little Room Films is producing a new documentary owned by Peter Chernin’s parent company (run by Hehir). Production of this document began in 2023.
Speaking briefly about the upcoming documentary on his podcast, Hehir said, “What’s fascinated me about that man all my life is that underneath that two-dimensional facade that we see culturally, there’s a human being. Because I know that. It’s always been an interest of mine.”
The official synopsis reads, “He had one chance to show the world he was still the King of Rock’n’Roll,” and added, “He had one chance to show the world he was still the King of Rock and Roll,” adding, “Elvis Presley’s 1968 triumphant comeback special. Discover the story behind it.”
The film features stunning upscaled and remastered archival footage, as well as interviews with critics, music historians, and fellow musicians, as well as Baz Luhrmann (director of the recently released Elvis feature film) and Elvis’ daughter Lisa. – Also includes an interview with Marie Presley.
Elvis Presley’s official website Graceland also posted about the documentary being released on Netflix, indicating that it has the full blessing and support of his estate.
Reactions to the trailer, which is embedded above and released on October 17th, have been mostly positive, but one commenter wished Netflix would do more than just the doc, writing, “Netflix is making a ’68 comeback special.” It must be uploaded unedited.” There is no documentary style. ”
The documentary is rated TV-MA and comes at a busy time for Netflix documentaries. In late October, Netflix will release the Martha Stewart documentary Martha, with other documentaries and docu-series scheduled: investigation alien (November 8th), the only girl in the orchestra (December 4th) Makayla’s Voice: A Letter to the World (December 11), and julia’s stepping stones (December 18th).
