When Shania Twain appears at Brandi Carlyle’s annual Girls Just Wanna Weekend, the phrase “come on girls” will be more applicable than ever. Twain is probably the biggest star to ever join the lineup. It’s been six years since the festival began featuring women, female-fronted or non-binary artists, and it’s no secret that the majority of the audience “feels like women,” in the poet’s words. Needless to say. .
Other big-ticket artists joining Twain and Carlyle on the 2025 lineup include Maren Morris, Muna, Lucius, Brandy Clark and Britney Spencer.
The 6th annual festival will be held from January 16th to 20th, 2025 at the Barcelo Maya Resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya.
The roster includes Sister Strings, Tish Melton, Jensen McRae, Alison Pontier, Arova Nutt, Yasmine Williams, Carlyle Family Band, Marshgrass Mamas, and comedian Kristen Kee. I have a contract on a comedy set.
Clark, Lucius, Sister Strings and Melton will return after performing at the 2024 festival, which also featured Alison Russell, Janelle Monáe, Sarah McLachlan and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Carlyle always plays multiple sets at festivals. This rich performance from the festival’s founder and curator comes just after a year in which Carlyle was largely absent from live gigs, including headlining Red Rocks and a few other one-off shows. It will be especially welcomed by fans of. Prior to Girls Just Wanna, Carlyle will perform with Joni Mitchell at the Hollywood Bowl on October 19th and 20th.
“Each year, Girls Just Wanna Weekend grows into something even more special: a space where music, love, and inclusivity shine,” Carlyle said in a statement. “This lineup is a dream come true and I’m so proud to share it with a community that means the world to me.”
100x Hospitality is producing the festival, and publicity materials note that it caters primarily (though not entirely) to an LGBTQ+ audience. Information about all-inclusive travel and ticket packages can be found here.
