Hoda Kotb is leaving the Today Show.
Seventeen years later, on September 26, the co-host surprised viewers by saying:
“When I turned 60, I realized it was time to turn the page and try something new.”
Kotub also mentioned young children during her presentation, revealing that she needs to spend more time with her children, ages 5 and 7.
Of course, it’s completely understandable.
The reported individuals will remain on the Today Show desk until January 1st, and will remain part of the NBC family in some capacity after that.
But now we are forced to ask the obvious question: Who will replace Hota Kotb?
“The big candidates that everyone in the network is talking about are Laura Jarrett “She has a really strong chance,” an NBC source told Us Weekly.
“She’s the anchor of Weekend Today. She’s like a lawyer. [Kotb’s coanchor] savannah [Guthrie]. She was a popular star on the Today Show and quickly rose to prominence. ”
Laura is 40 years old and her mother, Valerie Jarrett, served as a senior adviser during Barack Obama’s administration.
She will replace Kristen Welker as co-anchor of the Today Show’s Saturday coverage in September 2023.
These days, other options work for NBC as well.
