The Marvel Cinematic Universe could have looked a little different, Alan Ritchson revealed this week.

“I didn’t take it seriously,” Ritchson said in a new article about his MCU audition. men’s health cover story. “I thought, ‘If I looked like that guy, they’d give me the role.’ Nobody cares about acting.”
However, after the audition, Marvel’s casting team told Ritchson that he had not shown that he had “talent,” and the role was ultimately given to Hemsworth. Thor first appeared in the character’s title movie in 2011 and has appeared in eight Marvel movies since then.
This loss bothered Ritchson, but after it he returned to focus on acting lessons.
A few years later, he also missed out on the role of Finnick O’Dea in 2013. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire After being told that he was too old for the role and was unlikely to become a Hollywood star at the age of 30. (Sam Claflin, who was ultimately chosen for the role, was 27 years old at the time.)
Now, more than a decade later, Ritchson’s efforts are paying off, as he stars as Jack Reacher on Prime Video. Reacher‘ was renewed for a third season in December and is currently filming in Toronto.
