Getting into business wasn’t a walk in the park Hilary Swank.

“My mom recently separated from my dad, so we drove from Bellingham, Washington, to Los Angeles,” Swank, 49, told the magazine. “I began the process of going into business. In Los Angeles, my mother and I first lived in an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme on a quiet residential street. When I wasn’t sleeping in the car, my family I stayed with a new friend of my age who had just moved in and was trying to sell his house. We slept on air mattresses.”
Following Hilary’s mother, judy swank, found secretarial jobs so the duo could rent a bedroom from a single mother. Slowly but surely, Hillary began to move towards her goal.
“At first, I only reserved TV parts that didn’t have any problems, and I didn’t bother,” she said. “I was excited to make my dream come true.”

She also hopes to never forget where she came from.
“I’m glad to be away from Los Angeles, but when I go there for meetings, I sometimes drive down the streets of Pasadena where my mom and I used to park and sleep,” Hilary said. “Despite the difficulties, I feel nostalgic for those days when nothing happened.”
